Who We Are

LessonScriptor is a Chrome extension developed and operated by Pierre Girardot. We are committed to protecting your privacy and respecting the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws. What Data We Collect

There is no account and no sign-up. Free mode works without giving us any personal data. We only hold data about you on our server if you buy credits, start the free trial or send us feedback, as described below.

Microphone Mode (free): transcription uses your browser's built-in speech recognition (the Web Speech API). In Google Chrome this is provided by Google, so the audio your microphone picks up is sent to Google's speech service to be converted into text, under Google's privacy policy. No audio is sent to or stored on LessonScriptor's servers. Transcripts are stored only in your browser's local storage, and we have no access to them.

Tab Audio Mode (AI mode): audio from the browser tab is sent in short chunks through LessonScriptor's server to Groq (api.groq.com) for transcription with a Whisper model. If Groq is temporarily unavailable, the chunk is sent to OpenAI (api.openai.com) instead. Our server relays the audio and the resulting text but does not store either. If the live preview is on (it is by default), the same tab audio is also sent to your browser's speech recognition service (Google, in Chrome) to show instant draft text. Transcripts are saved in your browser only.

If you buy credits: the email address you enter at Stripe checkout, your license key, your credit balance, a log of purchases and credit usage (date and number of seconds, never the audio or the text), when you last used AI mode, and whether you unsubscribed from our emails.

If you start the free trial: a random trial ID, a random device ID created by the extension (so each device gets one trial), and the same credit data. No email address is collected.

If you send feedback from the extension: your message, the extension version and language, and your email address if you choose to add it. Messages sent through our contact form are delivered to our inbox by email and are not stored in our database.

We do not use analytics or advertising tools, we do not track your browsing, and our website sets no cookies. Cloudflare, which protects the site, may set a security cookie if it needs to check that you are not a bot. We do not sell data.

Local Storage

Your transcripts and extension settings are stored only in your browser. LessonScriptor keeps no copy of your transcripts or settings on its servers, so if you clear your browser data or uninstall the extension, they are deleted and we cannot recover them.

Payments and License Keys

Tab Audio credits are purchased through Stripe, a third-party payment processor. Stripe handles your payment details — your card number and billing address are processed entirely by Stripe and never reach LessonScriptor's servers.

Upon purchase, LessonScriptor generates a license key linked to the email address you provide at checkout, so we can apply your credits and help you if you contact support. Please review Stripe's privacy policy for details on how they handle your payment data. Stripe.

Third-Party Services

Speech processors: Groq (api.groq.com) transcribes AI-mode audio with a Whisper model. Our Groq account is set to zero data retention, so Groq does not keep the audio or the text. If Groq is temporarily unavailable, the audio chunk is sent to OpenAI (api.openai.com) instead; OpenAI does not use API data to train its models but may keep abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days. Stripe: Stripe: Handles all payment processing for Tab Audio credit purchases. See the Payments section above.

Resend: Sends license and welcome emails to buyers and delivers contact-form messages to us.

Cloudflare: The website and database run on our own server. Traffic passes through Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. Our API limits how many requests each IP address can make, using short-lived counters stored with Upstash.

Google Search Console: Google Search Console: We use Google Search Console to monitor aggregate search performance of our website (lessonscriptor.com). This is limited to non-personally-identifiable search metrics and does not track individual users.

We do not sell your data, and we share it with no one other than the providers listed above, which process it only to provide their service.

Your Rights Under GDPR

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: You have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Rectification: You have the right to correct inaccurate personal data.
• Right to Erasure: You have the right to request the deletion of your personal data.
• Right to Data Portability: You have the right to request your personal data in a portable format.
• Right to Object: You have the right to object to our processing of your personal data.

To use any of these rights, email [email protected] from the address you used at checkout, or include your license key. We reply within one month. We process purchase data to deliver the credits you paid for (performance of a contract), feedback to improve the product, and IP addresses briefly to prevent abuse (legitimate interest). Transcripts are not on our servers: you can view, export or delete them directly in the extension. You can also lodge a complaint with your data protection authority (in France, the CNIL).

Data Retention

We keep purchase, license and trial records for as long as your credits can be used and until you ask us to delete them, except sales records we must keep for accounting and tax reasons. Feedback is kept until we delete it or you ask us to. Our database is backed up daily, so deleted records can remain in a backup until that backup is replaced. Transcripts and settings stay in your browser for as long as you keep them.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the last updated date on this page. Your continued use of LessonScriptor after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
